AcuPoint: Heart Protector 9

When I was a teen flashing my middle finger up when upset, my mom would say “Oh stop putting up your heart up in anger”. She explained that a heart point ended there. I would just frown confusingly. It’s only when I began learning Acupuncture points did I comprehend.

Powerfully moving Acupoints are located on the tips of our fingers and toes, all can be used to restore consciousness. Middle Rushing In (Zhong Chong) aka Heart Protector 9, is one such point. In addition to having a “waking up” effect, it eases pain & stiffness on the tongue, treats the inability to speak and night-time crying in young children (the heart meridian enters the tongue).

Anatomically, the heart has a thin film around it called the pericardium. But remember, these meridian/channel systems were being used way before an understanding of what the organs looked like inside the body.

The Pericardium (just another name for Heart Prtector), in general, has an overall effect on the chest and is considered the gentler side of the heart, the heart protector or pericardium. Heart Protector 9, directs “the mind inward toward the heart and helps quiet the mind so it ceases to agitate the heart” Lonny Jarrett. Self-esteem, discernment & vision, can be brought into the Heart Protector's functioning and help a person with intimacy and relationships.
