In challenging times, I often ask myself: How can we be a light in the world? A few simple yet powerful ways come to mind—loving others without condition, embracing community, and offering a warm smile to a passing stranger. But when our hearts feel heavy, even these small acts can seem difficult.
One way to lighten up—inside and out—is through our diet. Food can either weigh us down or uplift us. By eating in harmony with the seasons, we support our body’s natural rhythms. After winter’s heavier, more insulating foods, spring is the perfect time to transition with a gentle cleanse—not a restrictive starvation diet, but a reset focused on whole, vibrant foods.
Spring resonates with and governs the Liver and Gallbladder officials (organs plus their energetic roles). These systems not only assist the body in detoxification but also relate to expansion, liberation and justice – just as seeds breaking free and sprouting green. Leafy greens and cleansing foods are their medicine. Lightening the load by reducing sugar, dairy, intoxicants, and heavy fats, allowing the body to cleanse, restore, and support the harmony of you and these organ systems.
Green – the color of fresh growth & renewal – is also the color associated with the Liver & Gallbladder (wood element). Just as the earth awakens from its winter slumber and greenery emerges, we too emerge. Doing a cleanse support smoother movement up and out.
I’m excited to embark on a cleanse this spring equinox starting March 19th. If you feel called to do a self guided cleanse, email us directly at i[email protected] to receive resources, including recipes, for guidance.
Let’s welcome spring feeling lighter and refreshed!
